The Missionaries of Charity of Mary Immaculate is a Religious Congregation been founded in Mexico in 1934, in Mexico, D.F. by the Venerable Servant of God Fr. Moises Lira, M. Sp. S.
Fr. Moises lived the charism of spiritual childhood as a little and confident son of God, abandoned in the hands of his Father.
Fr. Moises Lira, full of compassion by the necessities of so many people that suffered abandonment, poverty, illness, ignorance, wanted to “do the charity where there was a necessity”, so “make the charity everywhere” mainly with the poorest and abandoned.
On March 29th 1934 founded the Missionaries of Charity of Mary Immaculate are in three continents: America, Europe and Africa. We are present in Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Chile, United States of America, Italy and Kenya.
Mission of the Missionaries of Charity of Mary Immaculate
Our primary mission is to spread the truth that “we are children of God” through faith in Jesus Christ and lead them to a confident and loving relationship with God, our Father. Our mission is to be a community that contributes to the society to the integral formation of the person with high spirit of service, responsibility and love of God, our Father.
We provide our brothers and sisters whose suffer any kind of illness, a professional, friendly and compassionate care. Our specific mission is to show the loving face of God as Father, accompanying them in their pain and giving them strength, confidence and comfort.
Pastoral and mission and gentes
Our mission is conducted from the communion and participation in delivery with zeal for the evangelization and from the transmission of the charism of spiritual childhood.
“We shall take to everybody the love of God, the good of all human beings, whether in body or in spirit, that fraternal charity must be the fruit of love of God, which overflows into our poor brothers and sisters.” CD 24 No. 45
Apostolate in Kenya
As Missionaries of Charity of Mary Immaculate we are call to cooperate with the Holy Spirit, to announce the Good News of Christ to all the people, with a love always growing towards whole humanity (CD 168). Living our Founder’s charisma, we are aware that we should teach to all men and women that we have a Father that loves and care for them. (CD 169)
Our mission is to help all so that they can live as truly children of God. (CD 8) We make an effort in getting it by means of our generous service, in humble self-denial and in a gentle happiness (CD 8).
Since 1970 the Missionaries of Charity of Mary Immaculate have been present in Kenya, Africa; working in remote areas as it is Nakuru in “Arutani Secondary School” where there are 360 students; in South Horr, Maralal in “South Horr Health Center”, in the pastoral education taking care of “Consolata Nursery school” where there are 142 children and visiting the communities (manyattas) for the pastoral work among the samburus who is a semi-nomadic pastoralist community.
