MISSIONARY SISTERS OF THE PRECIOUS BLOOD

The Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood were founded on 8th September 1885 in South Africa by Abbot Francis Pfanner. The Congregation spread rapidly and in 1898 the first sisters arrived in Gare, Tanzania and in Bura Kenya in 1908. In 2005 a mission station was opened in the Nuba Mountains, Sudan. The East African Province now comprises three countries: Kenya, Tanzania (including Zanzibar) and Sudan.
We are an International Religious Congregation of Women called to live the Paschal Mystery and to witness to the redeeming love of Christ. As Missionaries, our Mission Field is the Kingdom of God that has no boundaries. We are Missionaries everywhere.

Our name is our also Mandate:To honour in a special way the Blood of Christ through which He redeemed all people.The cry of the crucified Jesus; “I thirst “urges us to hand on the great gift of our redemption to our wounded world. We live this spirituality concretely by declaring the Blood of Jesus as a source of Reconciliation, Healing, Peace and Joy.
